Handbook and Policies

Trailside Academy Student Handbook

The Trailside Academy Student Handbook outlines the academic and behavioral expectations to ensure a safe and successful school. We encourage students and families to review the contents of this handbook and discuss them for understanding and for positive, productive use throughout the year. Please contact the main office at 303.853.3040 with any questions about the handbook or school policies.

Away for the Day Policy

Cell phones create a significant distraction from learning in the classroom. Emerging research points to the impact on students' academic and social engagement. We strongly discourage students from bringing cell phones to school. Trailside does not assume any responsibility for theft, loss, or damage of a cell phone, or for unauthorized calls made on a cell phone.

If students choose to bring cell phones to school, all students must leave phones on silent (not on vibrate) or turn them off. Starting in the 2024-2025 school year, cell phones must be turned in to students' Crew teacher in the morning. Teachers will lock student phones in a phone lock box until the end of the school day. Students arriving to school late will turn their phones in to the front office.

If there is an emergency at school, parents will be directly contacted by school officials. This is in line with guidance from the Mapleton Director of Safety and Security and local emergency responders. Parents should continue to call the office for any emergency situations to help us keep our school and students safe. Please see the Student Handbook for additional information.

Student Dress Code

At Trailside, our focus is on education and learning. We value students' ability to express themselves through what they wear, and we expect students to dress appropriately for the school environment (positive expression, no visible undergarments, etc.).

For safety reasons, students must wear hard-soled shoes, and younger students are encouraged to wear playground-appropriate shoes (tennis shoes and socks). Students may not wear items that make their face unidentifiable, such as dark sunglasses, hoods on heads, or hats pulled below the brow (clothing/headgear worn for religious and medical purposes are excepted). Students should also dress appropriately for the weather, which can change quickly in Colorado.

Please review the Mapleton Public Schools Dress Code for further details.
